New Mexico - Sunday & Monday

Our first day in New Mexico was filled with kids.

We met my aunt Barb, cousin Megan, and twins Max and Henry at a restaurant in Albuquerque called Flying Star. It is a coffee shop/cafe/bakery. We shared a meal that included an amazing turkey sausage patty with green chile and a green chile and cheddar bagel. Oh my!!! I can't wait to go back. I'll be dreaming of the turkey sausage patty. It was so flavorful. We then headed to Barb's friend Judy's house to see her upgrades. She lives in a castle it is amazing! She has the best house for entertaining.

By afternoon we headed to my in-laws for a visit. Our day ended at the Denny's in Edgewood where our niece Maya works. The restaurant just opened for business on Sunday and boy was it rough. Like with any new restaurant they will get the kinks worked out. Thankfully the waiter helping Maya spilled drinks on Kenyon and not some other patron. Kenyon was a good sport.

 (I'm having photo editing issues!)

One outing with a group of 11 (and two rambunctious boys) was enough for one day.

Today we met up with Barb, Megan, and the boys and headed to the National Petroglyph State Park. Our weather was sort of iffy and we actually were rained on before the wind almost blew us off the rocks. We had a picnic afterwards.

It was so much fun to spend time with Max and Henry.

Vacation Time!!!!

Kenyon and I are headed to New Mexico for a few days.  Yeeehaaaw.  Hello Vacation!

My Aunt Barb (my mom’s sister) moved to New Mexico last year.  Barb’s daughter Megan and her twin boys will be in New Mexico visiting Barb so Kenyon and I decided to make a quick trip down as well.  I have not yet met the twins since they don’t live in Idaho and they are now almost five years old!

After Grandma A passed away both Megan and my sister Katie had babies.  The twins, Max and Henry, are one month older than Emma.  I had planned to visit Megan, her husband Peter, and the boys when we go to New York next year so I am glad we get to see them sooner.

We will also visit my in-laws who are also in New Mexico.  It will be a quick trip but we will get to do some touristy things such as riding the tram up to the top of Sandia Mountain where Kenyon and I were married seven years ago.  We have not been back up since our wedding.  I am super excited.

So far now, I am leaving on a jet plane.  Don’t know when I’ll check in again.

Ladies Who Lunch & Pretty Toes

I met up with a coworker-of-sorts yesterday for lunch at Corner Bistro. I know this restaurant/bakery isn't new but it is new to our area. We are actually already getting a second location. I love bakeries but often don't go for lunch. I have trouble resisting the delicious looking sweets case they have positioned right in front of you when you order. “I'll have one of EVERYTHING.”

Both Cathy and I got the half sandwich (turkey) and the tomato basil soup. The sandwich was served with chips and a pickle.

For an extra $1 you could get a cookie. I am a sucker for anything with M&Ms. This cookie was rich so half was the perfect amount. The other half is in the freezer. I think next time I would have prefered my sandwiched grilled like the panini style so I could dip it easier in my soup. They had lots of different kinds of soup. I also had coffee with my meal.

One of those cookies belongs to Cathy

Despite this meal costing $10, which I did feel was a bit high for lunch, it was quite tasty. I definitely want to go back and try other sandwiches and some of their breakfast items. I saw a sign on the window when I was walking in they have a deal for $3.79 for a cup of coffee and a bagel. Yum. They also offer breakfast egg sandwiches on their thin whole grain bread. So I see another trip in my future for sure.

My lunch meet-up was nice. Cathy works graveyard shift in another part of ISP so it is nice to have somebody to do stuff with in the middle of the night on days off. We have plans to meet up again soon at IHOP in the wee hours of the morning.

From lunch I headed to SoPosh to get a spa pedicure. We are going to New Mexico tomorrow for vacation and I sometimes will get a gel pedicure when I plan to wear sandals. It works great when you are on a cruise and don't want to mess with paint chipping. Well it is expected to be 80 degrees in NM so pretty toes were a must.

Tonight we are having "Hawaiian Day" for National Telecommunications Week. I suspect I'll be the only one dressed up but I am super excited for it. I am also bringing Hawaiian pulled pork and pineapple coleslaw for my coworkers. We will also cook up some Jasmine rice. Mmmmm....is it is dinner time yet?
