Week One On WW Freestyle Still A Success

Although I didn’t lose any weight, Week One on the new WW Freestyle plan still went well.

I tracked the days that were crazy overboard and I got in some good activity.  I worked the new program the best I could this week and from here, we will continue to build on that and tweak as needed.  Of course, my out of town trip will have an impact but I’m going to try and track.  I say “try” because often when I run out of points, I also seem to run out of brain cells!  I do want to keep it in check but I also want to have some fun and relax a bit.  Plus, there are so many good food places in Vegas we love and plan to visit.  And…there will be adult beverages consumed.

I’ve started tracking my day today and I’m going to make a commitment to myself to get right back on track upon our return.  Those two things will help a ton.

We should also be getting some walking in and since I’m tracking using the app, it is taking into account my steps.  So, my goal might be to collect a ton of Fit Points!

Either way, I do plan to have fun and spend time with Kenyon.  I’ll check in when I can.

Powering Through When Your Spirits Are Down

Peeking at the scale yesterday deflated me a little bit and it has been hard to stay on track since then.  I struggled yesterday with allowing myself to get too hungry in the evening, yet again.  I’ve got to figure that part out.

While I did prepare different types of foods/recipes this week (utilizing many of the new 0 SPV foods), there was still something lacking.  It is hard to explain.  Kenyon and I had plans to go to Red Robin for dinner.  I knew ahead of time I would be getting the simply grilled chicken “burger” on a lettuce wrap bun.  I’d also get a side salad with ranch and probably have a few of Kenyon’s fries.  Kenyon left work late so I was staving by the time we arrived.  We had his free birthday burger to use and while the simply grilled chicken was only $2 less, to maximize our coupon value, I selected the Whiskey River BBQ chicken “burger” still lettuce wrapped but with no cheese and no tomato.  Looking up the points after and making my best guess of subtracting the bun, cheese, and chicken breast points, I think my “burger” was 20 SPV.

I had no desire to spend 20 SPV on chicken last night and if I had not gone for the Whiskey BBQ variety, which has mayo and fried onion straws on it, I would have only spent like 1 SPV (not sure how they prepare their chicken so I’d at least probably count 1 SPV).  I could have saved myself 19 SPV had I just gotten the menu item I planned on from the beginning.

But, it tasted delicious.  And, I told Kenyon after the fact it is like my body whispered to me “thank you for giving me fat”.  He promptly told me that fat isn’t the enemy.  So while I can’t really explain it fully, there are times when I just crave something high fat/point/calories and I don’t feel content until I have it.

I wish I could say that I am content once I eat the high point food but often, it can snowball from there.  I immediately wanted an ice cream treat after we left Red Robin but thankfully I told myself in my most adult voice, “NO”, drove home, and went to bed.

It was a super high point day so I’ll see how this affects the scale on Monday and/or Tuesday.  I’ve not decided yet if I’ll pop into a meeting on Monday night or not.  I wanted to but then I’m letting the scale talk me out of it!  I had my heart set on seeing a loss with the launch of the new program.  It’s a bit of a bummer.

This N' That On A Saturday

Good Saturday Morning!!

I’m at work today but thankfully, I work with a fun team so we are having a good day.  This feels like the longest week in history and I am only on day three of five.  Thankfully I’ve got fun to look forward to on my days off.

I’ve got some random items for the blog today.

My coworker told me that St. Chapelle was selling their huckleberry wine but in a sparking version.  I ended up with a random $10 off coupon and got a 20% discount for being a case club member from many years ago.  I ended up getting two bottles for $20.  It is good but not sweet enough for my taste buds.  I’m planning to take the second bottle for Christmas festivities.

I’d been looking for the Halo Top Pumpkin Pie ice cream and I finally spotted it at Alberston’s last week.  I paid $5.99 for this small pint but figured if I waited to find it elsewhere cheaper, I might not be able to.  It is really good.  I was big on Halo Top a few months ago but then after having Ben & Jerry’s, HT wasn’t as good.  For what it is worth, it does the trick.  A ½ cup serving is 3 SPV and I think the whole pint is 13 SPV.  I think one serving of B&J is at least 13 SPV.  So, it’s a good points alternative to regular ice cream when you are in a pinch.

During Black Friday shopping, I got a two new espresso cups for my Starbucks Verismo machine.  FYI, there was a sale recently on the machines making them $99 and thus a very affordable way to have Sbucks espresso at home.  You do have to buy the pods which run you about $1 each.  I’m keeping an eye out for a pod sale.  This is my Christmas espresso cup and then I also got one with a N on it.  I asked Kenyon if he knew what the N stood for and he said, “Not enough coffee.”  Gezzzzz.

I also found these really great insulated mugs at Kohl’s that I got on a coupon along with using my Kohl’s cash.  I needed a larger size then the one I got at Eddie Bauer for my birthday.  Sadly, they are not dishwasher safe but I do love the look (I got two different colors) and the amount of time it keeps my iced coffee cold.

I did a peek at the scale this morning and while I’ve not gained any weight, I’ve also not lost any.  So, not sure what that is all about.  I am still working the WW Freestyle Program and really liking it.  I have had successful last few days and so I’m hoping to start seeing results soon (of course out of town this weekend will skew that a bit).  I hope I’m doing the program right and I found this funny on Instagram.

Lastly, at Target last week I found a fun new hat.  If it had been on sale, I would have gotten it but $14.99 was a bit too much to spend.  It is cute though.
