Weekend Check-In

It was a great weekend in the books and despite some rainy weather here and there, the sun managed to also peek out.

Saturday:

I went to the hospital to visit my aunt.  She is improving but there are still hurdles to overcome.  I then met up with Phoenix and her kids at Homestead Bar & Grill for a pre-graduation celebration.  Phoenix returned to school a few years ago and has completed her associate’s degree.  I am so proud of her.  Her sister, Nicole, also completed her associate’s degree too.  They both walked in the College of Western Idaho ceremony at Taco Bell Arena on the Boise State University campus on Saturday evening.

I didn’t think there were any post-graduation plans which is why we had a pre-celebration.  Phoenix wanted to go to White Dog Brewing Company and then we went to Buffalo Wild Wings since we were hungry.

Sunday:

We had a small Mother’s Day dinner in the evening at my parent’s house.  I have the best mother and I am also so lucky to have/have had such great mothers in my life.

Monday:

It was a low-key day and really nice to just relax.  After my WW meeting, I did some grocery shopping and made myself a delicious lunch before setting out for a 2.5 mile walk on a loop around my house.  Kenyon and I went to dinner at Tucanos during early bird hours and it was really easy to get seated and served.

It is going to be a short work week since I’m taking Friday off four our annual Girls Weekend.  I’m all for a short week for sure!

Weekly WI: A Loss

It’s was a good week and I staying focused on the goals I set last Monday. It was stressful feeling like I needed to be perfect if was going to try for a three pound loss this week.

There were a couple times I’ve declined a sweet treat and also more social/eating out opportunities than I’d originally planned. I was also focused on moving more and earned several Fit Points. Those came in handy when I blew through my Weekly Points Friday and Saturday.

The stress wasn’t eased much because I have been feeling like I’m retaining water. Driving to my meeting, I don’t feel like I’d lost this week. It was a relief to step on the scale and see a 1.8 pound loss. WhooooHoooo!!

I’m not yet on the 2-teens. I’ve really got to work hard on breaking that 220 mark. I’ve been up and down many times but just can’t break it.

This week we are headed to Bend, OR for a girls week (beer....lots of beer) so I’ll have to make Monday-Thursday’s efforts really count so I can get myself a buffer. I was just telling my Mom on the phone this morning that I think I’m too social for weight loss!

The biggest Bravo from last week this wee is that I’ve tracked 100% and I’m kept myself accountable.

Perfect or not, I’m staying the course.

Wednesday Day Improvement

Despite my not-so-great day yesterday, it was much improved after I got home.

I knew I had a letter from work waiting for me and with our recent raises, I assumed it was due to that.  Instead, I found a nice surprise of a $1000 bonus coming in my June 1st paycheck.  Since I had just bought tickets to see P!nk in concert in April of 2019, I guess I needed that extra money.  I earned an exemplary rating on my annual review for 2017 and thus, I am being awarded a one-time bonus.  What I love even more is that our new director, Col. Wills, whom I known for almost all of my career at ISP, always adds a hand written “AWESOME!!” or “GREAT WORK” to the letters.  It sure makes you feel really good about the agency you work for.

I visited my aunt at the hospital before I went to the gym.  While I was there, I received a very nice text message from Carmen, who is the center manager for the dispatch center at Nampa Police.  I trained at NPD for six months in 2015 before decided to come back to ISP.  She wanted me to know she was riding in a car with our communications Captain and he told her I was a ray of sunshine.  I have such a great relationship with Carmen and many of the dispatchers and employees at NPD from my short time there.  My day was looking up for sure!

I was super tired after my loss of sleep last night but knew I needed to be accountable to myself and go to the class at the gym.  I was late due to staying too long at the hospital but I made it.  You never regret a workout.

Meal planning/prep paid off this week and I had leftovers waiting for me at home.  I even finished off with a little bit of dessert since I had just enough points.

I have a much-needed hair appointment after work today and then I am hopefully meeting a coworker/friend for dinner at The Reef.  Sadly, we don’t have the best weather today.  I am going to look at the menu ahead of time so I can pre-plan what I am going to eat and do some pre-tracking.  I’m also hoping to make it in time for Kiki’s volleyball game.  I don’t think I’ll have time to exercise since the game is at 8pm.

I’m on a late shift at work tomorrow so I’ll be checking in later in the afternoon.  I’m meeting Mom for an early Mother’s Day lunch at Olive Garden for soup and salad.  I am also hosting a baby shower for my coworker Ashleigh who is due with her first boy in July.
