My Deep Thoughts

Sometimes I wish I had an excuse to eat whatever I wanted without worry or freight of the scale.

A few weeks ago Kenyon and I walked to On The Border for dinner.  I love their tortilla chips A LOT and ordered a side of black beans to enjoy along with tortilla chips and queso dip.  That was it for my dinner.  I told Kenyon that if I was gluten-free I would totally use that as an excuse to eat tortilla chips all the time.  And I totally would!

I often have these thoughts.  What if I didn’t have to worry about my weight?  What if I could eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted?  I already know the answer to these questions.  I’d be 304 pounds again, unhealthy, unhappy, and struggling with high cholesterol.

But, knowing all of these things doesn’t make me stop wishing I could have a smorgasbord of delicious food in front of me.  I’m sure that is why I go so crazy on vacation.  I don’t keep all those temptations in my house on a daily basis and vacation is my time to break away from the foods I eat at home every day.

I also know that I could go out right now and eat a bunch of high-calorie-fat-sugar-carb-foods and then feel miserable afterwards.  Eating crap really does make you feel like crap.

I do love my healthy lifestyle but I also miss some of the foods that I used to eat.  Often it falls under the category of “not worth the PPVs” and so I shy away from it.  Other times I plan accordingly and have whatever food I am wanting.  I like that I have the choice on what I eat and that I can balance it out with the other food I eat during the week.

I also love that I can look forward to upcoming vacations (Europe) with yummy food splurges as well!

Last Week's Eats

I had some yummy eats last week!

I met Phoenix for lunch on Wednesday at Idaho Pizza Company.  I had planned to just order a mini pizza so I wasn’t tempted by the buffet.  Phe offered to pay and the cost to have the pizza I wanted as a mini would be more money.  That wouldn’t have been an issue with me but I didn’t want my friend to have to pay more.  Since it was a new WW week and I was feeling energized after my three weeks of gains, I stuck to two slices of the pizza I would have gotten as a mini.  The Hells Canyon is a favorite of Kenyon and I.  It is white blue cheese sauce with buffalo chicken and some sort of Italian seasoning on top.  Delicious.  I had two trips to the salad bar to fill up on zero PPV veggies.

One day I needed a snack and had some leftover kidney beans in the fridge.  So I just ate them plain.  Weird but it worked.

After buying some thin bagels and Laughing Cow cream cheese I had some pretty tasty bagel egg breakfast sandwiches this week.

I made some sloppy joes from Mix and Match Momma’s recipe.  They were really good and it was a nice change from our usual meals.  I reduced the sugar and also added in chopped bell pepper and liquid smoke.

The sloppy joes provided leftovers for two other lunch meals.  I used my Sun Chips to dip the joe up.  I took my lunch outside last Friday and enjoyed the warm weather.

I tried Mix and Match Momma’s Cumin Crusted Chicken for dinner one night.  I decided to skip the cheese and salsa but found it quite dry.  Maybe I shouldn’t skip that next time?  I liked the change of using corn meal vs. breadcrumbs.

Left over Cheesy Chicken Quinoa Enchilada Meatloaf.  These were better as leftovers and I think I’ll make more this week.

After running errands I treated myself to some NSA frozen yogurt with fruit topping.  This time of year is iffy on whether or not the fruit is fresh.  I hate the texture of thawed frozen fruit.

New salad dressing finds.  I got these at Rosauer’s in an attempt to mix up my boring salads.  They are all delicious.  The Pear Gorgonzola and Thai Peanut are 1 PPV and the Greek is 2 PPV.  This is for a 2 Tbs serving size.  I have also started this week adding 1 tsp of olive oil with my dressing on my salad.  It makes it feel like I have a better dressed salad.  I have a White Balsamic Vinegar to try too.

We had fish for dinner one night with broccoli on the side.  These are my favorite Gorton’s fish and come in two varieties.  It is 5 PPVs per filet.

I packed my lunch for work, as usual, and packed in the power foods!  Yogurt with strawberries and salad with sliced deli turkey and cut up bell pepper.  I tried the new Greek dressing on it.

BBQ eats on Saturday.

Today was my two egg morning.  I really like these bagel sandwiches and it is a nice change from my usual morning meals.

More leftover sloppy joes and some yogurt and strawberries for my morning snack at work.

Kenyon and I went to Cracker Barrel for dinner late in my week.  My DPA was pretty low and I was trying really hard to conserve my WPPAs.  I looked up the PPVs on the WW app and found the grilled chicken tenderloins to be 1 PPV each.  I ordered the tenderloins (4 PPV) with green beans (1 PPV) and cooked cabbage (2 PPV).  I added one extra 1 PPV for the BBQ sauce on the side.

Coffee run at work one day.  Yummmm…..

Ramped Up Activity

Good Thursday Morning.  It is alllllmost the weekend for some of you.  Those of us that work shiftwork, not so much.  BUT it is double time and a half on Monday so I’m not complaining!

I had a really great week with my activity.  My goal was to ramp it up and I did just that.  My FitBit totals were pretty normal but my APs were slightly under my goal of 20.

FitBit totals: 68,507 steps and 31.43 miles.  Total of 17 APs earned.

Wednesday: Water Aerobics at YMCA and lawn mowing
I changed it up last week and attended a morning water aerobics class.  I really liked the instructor and felt she worked us harder than when I attended a few months ago.  It is really hard to focus though for a full hour and I tend to watch the clock.  My HRM isn’t working properly so I just counted 3 APs, which is what I earned the last time I took the class.  Later I mowed the lawn for 2 more APs.  Total of 5 APs earned.

Thursday: 4 mile outside walk at Settler’s Park
I decided to shake up my routine as I have been pretty bored lately.  After my overtime shift I drive to a nearby park to walk the loop around it.  It doesn’t take long for the miles to add up and I had water with me in the car and a bathroom if needed.  It was a pretty perfect set up.  It was also had a nice change of scenery.  6 APs earned.

Friday: 2 miles at 3:30am on the treadmill
I had a show to watch, season finale of Grey’s Anatomy, so I decided to hit the treadmill.  2 APs earned.

Saturday: Planned rest day
I had decided to use today as a rest day.  I also dressed up for my shift at work as I had a BBQ to attend later in the afternoon.  I could have brought my tennis shoes and tried to get out for a walk during work.  Instead I rested (and partied).

Sunday: Unplanned rest day
Since Saturday was my planned rest day this day I had planned to get out for a walk at work.  I was working a 12 hour shift (6am-6pm) and since Saturday was such late night I planned to just walk the track at work.  It was super busy and there was no opportunity to break away.  So, an unplanned rest day developed.

Monday: 2 miles at 3:30am on the treadmill
I had another season finale to watch, The Amazing Race, so I was on the treadmill this morning.  2 APs earned.

Tuesday: 2 mile walk outside
I had thought I would get in a four mile walk and try to round out my APs to 20 but the best I had in me was 2 miles.  I headed outside for a walk around the neighborhood after my WW meeting.  2 APs earned.
