Wisconsin Part 1

Hello!  I’ve been MIA for a couple of reasons.

1) we were out of town.

2) I didn’t have time to blog before we left.

3) I gained last week so didn’t really feel like recapping all that!

Since I am skipping the scale today, I’ll jump in with a trip recap.  I still owe you some other posts that will hopefully catch you up in the ins and outs of life.

We just returned from a quick weekend trip to Wisconsin.  We packed in tons of fun in our few short days.  On Wednesday, we flew to Milwaukee routing through Denver.

Our first top after picking up the rental car was Fazoli’s for some Italian fare.  We don’t have these in Idaho and when we travel, we look forward to their amazing breadsticks.  We stuffed ourselves!

After checking into the hotel, our friends Sherry and Mark, whom we met on our European River Cruise, picked us up where we went to Delafield Brewhaus for a beer, as we were still stuffed from lunch.  It was great to catch up.

On Thursday, we spend a good portion of the day in the car while we drove to Oshkosh, WI to visit the EAA Air Museum.  On our way, we stopped at Rocky Rococo’s a pizza place that I’ve been to in Spokane, so I introduced Kenyon to their pizza.  It was just as yummy as I recalled.

We visited the EAA Air Museum in 2019 and Kenyon wanted to return when it was less crowded.  It was an enjoyable repeat visit.

You can expect to see many Elks lodge visits on our future travel adventures.  I promise you…I’ll catch you up on my Elks membership soon.  We visited three lodges this trip, the first being Oshkosh Lodge #262.  There were not many members, but we had the best visit with Bartender Tom, who was 72 years old and has been bartending for 25+ years.  He also holds the Tiler position.

We swung by the outlet mall than made our way back to our hotel.  After a high recommendation for delicious custard, we visited Kopp’s for dinner.  OMG it was amazing!  They have really good burgers too.

Our second Elks lodge visit was Waukesha Lodge #400.  This was the biggest of the lodges and had a beautiful outdoor space.  We visited with a few members and met Exalted Ruler Mary Sue, who was a great host.

I'll be back with part two.

Weekly WI: A Surprising Loss

Good Afternoon.

(yawn)

I’m tired today.  I volunteered at the Elks for bingo last night and didn’t get done until after 10pm.  It was an early wakeup call this morning for my overtime shift.  But we had fun!

Last week’s Idaho State Elks Association Summer Convention was a huge success.  It was also a ton of work and really exhausting.  I walked a ton Thursday, Friday, and Saturday as each day were over 12-hours long.

Despite feeling like I’d have a gain, I lost 1.4 pounds this week.  That was a pleasant surprise!

I tried to keep my food in check, but it was just too hard being at the lodge all day.  I should have planned some snacks and since I didn’t, late night hamburgers were consumed one of the late nights.  I felt sick to my stomach on Friday after the luau dinner and ended up not feeling well most of Saturday which also threw off my food.  Even more reason I was very happy with my loss this week.

I have acquired my grandpa’s electric tricycle, which made its inaugural trek to the grocery store.  I can carry so many items now that I have this large basket on back.  I brought home a watermelon!

It took a little bit of work and help from Kenyon to get it running but I’m so glad we did.  What a special treat to be able to use his bike.  I love it!

Weekly WI: The Unexpected Gain - Part 2

Good Morning and Happy Thursday.

I’m hitting the ground running with the next few days being the Idaho State Elks Association Summer Convention.  I am still working on a blog post to fill you in on my last year as a member of the Nampa Elks Loge #1389.  It’s be a whirlwind but a fun organization to be part of.

As far as my Weekly Weigh-In, I gained.

Which I had not expected.  Much like the weeks prior, my action plan last week was to balance high point foods and I felt that goal went well.  I had a couple days of eating out strung together but other than that, was feeling lighter before stepping on the scale to see the number.  I am really going to focus this week on not getting out of control.  Last time I let an unexpected gain turn into another gain.  It is also a really busy week where I am not cooking my meals at home and there is potential for alcohol.  A lot of potential for a lot of alcohol…

We head out of town in a few weeks and I want to continue to focus on my goals which means not getting careless or reckless with my points.  I’ll head out for a walk this morning but I don’t see time for any other structured exercise until Sunday.  Between today and Sunday, it will be movement wherever I can get it!

Last week was busy as well.  I volunteered at the 1st Annual Nampton Beer Festival.  It was so fun!  I was a floater so I got to visit with so many fun people at so many different beer booths.

Friday my plans were canceled for a walk with Danielle to catch up from her recent Ireland vacation.  On Saturday, I met Rebecca for a long walk and some Mexican food and drinks afterwards.  Our walk took us on a 3.59 mile journey and while I had been craving a margarita (Rebecca’s pictured), I tried a different drink from the menu which was more like an old fashioned.  It was delicious but didn’t quite hit the spot.

Sunday we went to Watson’s Mystery Cafe to redeem a gift card from Christmas 2022 that Phoenix and Stacey gave us.  We took part in a cheese improve murder mystery show but had a good time.

As you can see, a very busy week last week and another one ahead.  Have a fabulous weekend.
