TGIFF: Thank God It's Finally Friday

TGIFF even if it is just one day off this week.  It has been a very long week and my giveadamn is big time busted.  I just gotta make it until 2am and then I’m free and in the clear until 4pm on Sunday afternoon.

While I should stay home and relax on my one day off, instead I’m going out drinking.  Maybe I can wash all my work stress away.  It is worth a shot.

I’m meeting up with Phoneix for some adult girl time as we bid farewell to the end of her summer vacation.  We were going to meet up with a bigger group to go downtown dancing but they have bailed.  So instead we are going to grab dinner and then go downtown for some Saturday night atmosphere just the two of us.  I invited my new neighbor to join us so I’ll see if maybe it will be the three of us.  We are planning to check out a few different bars and maybe even spend some time at the dueling pianos bar.  If we feel like it we might even kick up our feet at a dance club.  Mostly just looking to have some fun, relax, and enjoy adult beverages.

I just have to get through my shift which ends at 2am.

I Spent 13 SPV On An Ice Cream Treat

On Tuesday at work my supervisor DeLisa asked where I was at with my points for the day.  I told her I was doing pretty well.  She said if my points were good on Wednesday then she would like to treat us to an ice cream treat.  She told me all I had to do was tell her, “my points are good” and she will go buy the treats.

Talk about pressure.

Treats are never at a shortage in the dispatch center and with several out of town troopers in Meridian for the annual refresher training, we seem to have a lot of treats in dispatch right now.  Earlier in the week one trooper brought in ice cream treats and one brought in homemade chocolate chip cookies.  On Wednesday when I came to work a trooper and his wife brought us two buckets of treats and goodies piled high above the rim.  Seriously, we are never in a shortage of goodies here in dispatch.

I don’t often partake in the goodies and politely decline.  Since I’ve been declining more than splurging I told DeLisa I would plan in a treat when I came into work on Wednesday.

I looked up the points ahead of time knowing that DeLisa wanted the Dove ice cream bars.  I was shocked to see that one is a whoppin’ 13 SPV.  Ugh.  This is why I just have to refrain from sugar.  13 points is a ridiculous splurge on a treat.  But, I had agreed to partake so the plan was to eat half of the ice cream bar, very slyly put the other have back in the wrapper, and throw the rest away.  This way I would only spend 6 SPV on my treat with the group.

I had really good intentions of just eating half of the treat…until I started eating.  It was delicious.  The chocolate is very rich and was so easy to savor semi-slowly (it was ice cream after all).  Eventually the chocolate fell off of the outside and I was left with just ice cream.  I debated on if I wanted the rest of the treat knowing I would be spending a full 13 SPV on it and the answer was yes.  I didn’t need it but it was so good and I wanted more.  I finished off the ice cream and then savored the chocolate halves slowly.  When the last of the chocolate sat on the wrapper I finally felt as though I was satisfied so I threw the rest away.

13 SPV were tracked, it was enjoyed, and I am moving on.

Update On New Build: Show Me The Money (Or Lack There Of)

I am feeling a bit stressed out about all the money needed to get a new house up and running.  It isn’t even the large items we need such as the fridge and the washer and dryer.  It is all the little extras like blinds, fencing, and some added furniture that has me looking for a stiff drink to drown away all the numbers dancing around my head.

After meeting with two fencing companies last week we have realized that wrought iron fencing is expensive.  Ugh.  Today we met with a local representative from Boise Best Blinds.  We had decided we would order our blinds through Blinds.com and were just waiting for a good sale to come along.  In the meantime, our realtor gave us a recommendation for her local contact.  They came out today to measure and look over some of the samples.  They have a business to run, I get that, but of course there is a million reasons as to why they are better than Blinds.com.  Much like the fencing quotes, I am left wondering if cheaper also means lower quality.  And in that case, do you spend more thinking you are getting a better product?  I honestly have no idea.

What I will tell you is that since we have been dealing with several business on fencing quotes and now with a business on blind quotes, all I see is dollar signs knowing that when you add in a person other than yourself…the cost goes up.  At least $800 of the quote for the fence is just in labor alone.  Now, that doesn’t mean I want to dig holes, pour concrete, and build a fence with my own two hands just to save some money.   In the case of blinds, I can hang my own blinds just fine.  Well, Kenyon can and I’ll just supervise!

We have to wait and see what the quote comes in at for the blinds and we are still waiting for quotes on two different fencing companies.  In the case of the fence, we don’t have to get it now.  So we just have to make a decision on what we really want to do.

In the meantime thinking about all of these large numbers makes my head hurt.  I didn’t get much sleep today so I’m really tired.  I need coffee ASAP!

We are just one week out until we meet with CBH Homes to do our final walk-through with the construction super.  We submitted our items from the inspection to them and they are working on those items in the time between now and next week.  We are still set to close on the 19th and will be signing our loan paperwork on the 18th.  So we now have nine days until we hope to have keys in hand of our new home.  Kenyon was noting that of these next nine days he only has four work shifts left before he can start his time off.  I wanted to throat punch him after I counted up mine and still have a million work shifts to go.  Okay maybe not a million but I am working the next eight of those nine days.  Ugh.  It is sure going to make those 13 days off that much sweeter and will make me wish I had more than 13 days off.
