I Took A Walk Today

I went for a walk today.

Yay!!

When I woke up this afternoon I saw it was sunny despite being a brisk 19 degrees. I decided I should put on some under warmers and go for a walk. I loaded up my Heather Weighs In podcast clips, which I have been really behind on, and walked for 40 minutes. Slowly but surely I'll get there.

It is nice to go for a walk. It gives you time to think and time to destress. I'm not really stressed but it is always a good way to just regroup and plan out some of life.

Heather was talking about support and validation and how when somebody starts a weight loss journey it might be a while before anybody notices or compliments. Same goes for maintenance once the compliments slow or even stop all together. It is important that we validate ourselves and tell yourself how well you are doing. After all YOU know how you are doing. It can be hard to pat ourselves on the back when the scale doesn't show it. It can be equally hard to keep pushing onto the next week. Heather suggests using your first name to shout out your successes. Hey, you gotta do whatever works right?

I've noticed for a while now the compliments others used to give me have pretty much stopped. Despite being at my goal weight for five years I would still get the occasional “looking good” or even “it is great you are keeping the weight off.” I've noticed over the last year those small amount of compliments have stopped all together. I worry it is because people can see I have gained 20 pounds and perhaps they aren't sure what to say. Or that they think I'll gain all the weight back. Regardless, I can't let that get me down.

Every phase of maintenance is an important one and you never stop learning. Keep fighting the good fight!

New Year Resolutions Or Lack There Of

Hello and Happy Friday.  I just have Saturday off and then I have to start back again Sunday and Monday.  Then I start my new days off and will soon be on day shift.  I can’t wait!

I love that I can attend my Tuesday morning meeting again.  The Monday morning leader has been a good fill-in and I have enjoyed that group.  However, she gets off topic WAY too much.  I noticed last week there is this gal every once in a while that comes to the Monday morning meeting and sits with a disgusted look on her face.  I’m not sure if she is just sending those signals or if she too thinks we get off topic too much.  It just makes me that much more happy to be back at my usual Tuesday morning meeting with my favorite leader and group.

While I am not really a New Year Resolutions person nor do I set goal per se, I was looking ahead to 2015 as the year I would be paying off my car and my student loan and then saving up boatloads of money for travel.  Well, my recent car crash sort of changed some of the course.

While I am not getting rid of my car payment, I was able to pay off the balance of my student loan with the insurance money and also put a good amount into savings.  Plus, I have a fun new car too!  I sort of feel like my 2015 goal is met now.  See you in 2016.  Kidding....

It is a bummer going into 2015 again being over my goal weight and trying to lose weight.  I really hate New Year Resolutions of losing weight.  But, I know I need to drop some pounds.  I got this new calendar that has some really funny sayings on it.  This is the page for the start of the year.

It is a bit hard to read.  It says: “I feel fat today.  And to make myself feel better, I will eat this cake.  Yes.  Good Plan.”
While I don’t quite feel like eating cake just because I feel fat, I am having more fat days than non-fat days.  So I must keep moving forward.  There is nothing better than a brand new year to feel energized.

Whatever your 2015 holds for you, I hope it is the best year yet.  Do all the things you have been saying you would do.  Travel to the places you want to.  Tell your loved ones you are thinking about them.  Make this year THE year.

Welcome 2015!!!

Happy New Year!!!!

I hope you had a wonderful evening celebrating the beginning of 2015.  I am so excited for a brand new year of all new and wonderful experiences and travel.  I can’t wait!

I worked last night but we sure had fun!  Boise State University (my alma mater) played AND WON the Fiesta Bowl.  Hooray Bronco Nation!  We were given permission to dress down for work as long as we were in our most festive BSU attire.  I had also planed ahead for a little bit of New Years Eve fun for my teammates.

I made a trip to Albertson’s before I went to work to grab some lunch meat at the deli.  They have HUGE sub sandwiches for just $4.99.  I thought it would be fun to get a couple along with some chips and have a Fiesta Bowl/New Years Eve party at work.  It was a big hit.

Once the Fiesta Bowl was over and BSU had claimed their victory, it was time to start the second part of our party, the New Years Eve fun.  I had been to the Dollar Store earlier in the week and spotted some tiaras, top hats, and beads.  They also had tiny bottles of sparking apple cider.  I picked up one for each of my teammates and wrapped some ribbon around them.  This was so we had something to toast at midnight.

As with our unpredictable job, my coworkers Shauna and Jamee had a vehicle pursuit on their side of the state right about the time the clock was to strike midnight.  Oh by!  Thankfully the county sheriff’s office was handling the situation so we were all able to wish each other a Happy New Year just in the nick of time.

While I am happy for the new teams/supervisors that shifting in 2015, I am sad to say goodbye to Team Eric.  I have been working with Shauna for several years now.  It will be really weird to be on opposite shifts/days off now.

Best of luck to all of my former Team Eric teammates.  You will all do wonderful on your new teams!

Welcome 2015.
