Activity Explosion

Oh my gosh. Yesterday was a major activity packed day that my legs and feet are quite sore today.

I met Jamie at the mall yesterday morning for our weekly walk. We did six or seven laps, I lost count. I think after the sixth lap we decided we both needed to slow our speed and then we were somewhere in the midst of maybe a seventh lap when she wanted to swing into one of the stores. According to my HRM I earned 7 APs for our walk. Yeah.

Even though we tell ourselves each week not to eat out after our walk, we again ate out. Jamie had a coupon for Original Pancake House so we figured that was a good use of our earned APs. The coupon was only good for breakfast before 8am. Darn it! We ended up splitting a meal where I had the eggs and bacon and Jamie had the pancakes. So it was still a good deal.

My Dad's hospital room is was on the 5th floor so I knew I would be walking some stairs for extra activity. My nieces were also visiting and they like to walk the stairs with me for entertainment. I walked up to the 5th floor. Then all three of us walked down to my car, taking the stairs down the five floors. We then walked all the way to the 10th floor before returning to the 5th floor. Later the girls wanted to walk stairs again but I was spent. They ran ahead of me but I still got in a few more flights of stairs.

Today I am really feeling it. It took all the effort I had to walk around Costco running errands. I am busy cleaning house for a party I'm hosting on Saturday. I soaked in the hot tub this afternoon and am about to head out for more errands. I still have half a house to clean as well.

Despite feeling really out of shape it is nice to know that I can still climb 10 flights of stairs.

Great Weekly WI

Good Morning.

I am sorry to leave you hanging yesterday. My Dad had knee surgery, all went well, and so we were at the hospital for most of the day. I had every intention of blogging about my loss this week but it just didn't happen. So, I'll fill you in today.

I had great loss when I checked in at the WW scale yesterday. Thankfully my great week was rewarded by a three pound loss. While this doesn't always happen it sure makes staying motived a little bit easier. Motivation only gets you so far though.

I need to stay consistent and that is sometime a struggle. I thought about food all day everyday last week. Since I was working hard to change things up and not eat the usual foods I have been, meal planning and preparedness was a big key. I wish I could say I was more prepared for starting this week. I'll get there. I feel really good and I want to keep the momentum going.

I shared with my WW Buddies that after such a great week when I stepped on the scale it would have been nice for balloons and confetti to fall and for me to be rewarded for a 10 pounds loss. Obviously that isn't realistic. With consistency though I will get there. Losing 10 pounds right now is on the forefront of my mind and I will continue to change up my food choices and move more in order to get there.

Visual Motivation

During my Mini WW Intervention, my WW leader Donna suggested pulling out an item of clothing that was too snug.  This would help with a visual cue to stay on track and why losing weight is important to me.

I’ve never really used visual cues before but I liked this idea. Since my sisters and I am headed to Vegas in March, I pulled out of my closet one of my sparkly swoop neck shirts.  I wore this shirt on our last trip to Vegas and it is quite snug.  It doesn’t help that the fabric is a very clingy material.

My goal is to lose enough weight so that this fits and looks better for our next trip to Vegas.  But beyond that goal is to feel more confident when I am wearing it.

The first few days I had this shirt hanging on my dresser it felt in the way.  Then I realized that was the whole purpose of having it out in sight.  I need to know it is there and having to move it daily to get into my dresser really puts it in the front of my mind.

I have several weeks until we go to Vegas so I am going to continue to work really hard and stay focused.
