McCall Girls Weekend - Friday

Our 4th Annual Girls Weekend was a blast.  This year our destination was McCall and we had two new gal in our group, Kris and Wendy, both friends of Phoenix.  It was a really good weekend.

The drive to/from McCall on SH55 can be a busy one during the summer months.  There was also a ton of people in town for the weekend.  We were stoked we rented a VRBO condo within walking distance to town and we only had to use the car once.  I logged 11 miles of walking this weekend.

The main plan was to hit up the places along the McCall Ale Trail, which included a few breweries and several restaurants.  We found at many places we visited that the locals didn’t even know about the Ale Trail.  Our first stop when we rolled into town for lunch was Lardos.

Afterwards, we stopped in to see my Great Aunt Barb and my Uncle J.L. whom stay in McCall for the summer.  We were actually able to meet up with them a few more times around town and meet a few of their local friends.  It made this weekend that much more fun and that 70s-80s year old group can party.

We check into the rental condo, changed clothes and headed out on foot to explore McCall.

We visited Salmon River Brewery and McCall Brewing Company.  There was some excellent beers at Salmon River and some excellent appetizers at McCall Brewing.  You can’t beat the $2.50 happy our pint prices at McCall Brewing.  We had wished it was happy hour all weekend.  On Saturday, I stopped back by McCall Brewing for a pretty pink hat.

Our next stop was the Mile High Marina, which is were we meet up with my great aunt and uncle.  It was pretty cold and windy so we stayed long enough to have a drink and get or Ale Trail Passports stamped.

Wendy decided to retire to the condo but Phoenix, Kris, and I were still raring to go.  Plus, it was pretty early in the night.  We changed into warmer clothes and tennis shoes and started out again at The Mill and Beside The Mill.  Barb and J.L. had a larger group at The Mill and were all so friendly.  Seriously, the locals now how to have a great time.  My friends kept commenting how much fun my great aunt and uncle were to hang out with.

Phoenix decided to retire to the condo but I thought Kris wanted to continue so we walked to The Forester to listen to a local band and where I thought Barb and J.L were also headed.  We didn’t see them but enjoyed the local band and a few drinks.  It was a great first day.
