Weekly WI: Downward Trend (Hopefully)

 Hello!  Happy Wednesday.

My Weekly Weigh-In went well.  I did the down, up, down method this month.

The biggest WIN is I ended the month of May with an overall loss.  Yippie!

I was a little worried about weigh-in this week and I am so happy to see the scale down.  I had several high point days and overall, I just didn’t feel any lighter when I prepared to step on the scale yesterday but was hoping for the best.  Even though I had several high point days, I balanced them with lower point foods along with getting in activity.  This week will be some of the same so that will be my focus again.

Last week started with afternoon teas as a bleated Mother’s Day with my mom.  We had a wonderful time and enjoyed every bite.  The sweets are just too much for me as I don’t have sugar often.  I took several of the desserts home for Kenyon to enjoy.

Between a work BBQ, long hours at work, and not having a solid meal plan for dinners, a few dining out days transpired along with a pizza delivery.  That pretty much took me through the week.

So far, this week is shaping out to be equally as but also has some fun sprinkled in.  The plan is to track and keep my high point meals to just ONE meal and not let it spiral into a high point day.  I also made some plans with friends to walk instead of just meeting for dinner or drinks.  That will help me stay accountable and still allow us to chat and catch up on life.

Have a fabulous week!

2024 Travel Plan...So Far

"Travel is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer."

We are headed back to Europe.  This time the destination is Norway.

While I am a big planner and usually have trips booked months, even years, in advance, I also have tendency to book travel on a whim.

When EECC Travel announced their Vlogger Extravaganza Group Cruise, I just knew it was an opportunity I couldn’t miss.  When Oprah announced her 2020 Vision Tour: Your Life In Focus, I knew I wanted to be there.

I work hard for my paycheck and usually also work an abundance of overtime hours.  In turn, I have developed this philosophy that money is meant to be spent…after all, I can always earn more.

We have two cruises booked for 2024 and one for 2025.  In addition to the cruises, we are headed to Milwaukee, WI in June to see our travel friends we met on our Europe River Cruise.  Must like how my other trips come to fruition, Sherry posted on Facebook wanting to attend a Kenny Chesney concert which also included the Zach Brown band.  Like with most ideas they sound good until you start looking at the cost.  Oh well, that is why I make money!

In September we will be jumping on a cruise with the You Tube Vloggers Cruise Monkeys.  These guys are one of my favorites and I am so exited to meet them in person.  We will also be sailing on our first European cruise line, P&O.  Lots of firsts for this trip.  Our ports of call are Norway:

Day 1     Southampton, United Kingdom
Day 2     At Sea
Day 3     Stavanger, Norway
Day 4     Flaam, Norway – Possible Tender Port
Day 5     Nordfjordeid, Norway
Day 6     Haugesund, Norway
Day 7     At Sea
Day 8     Southampton, United Kingdom

We have wanted to go to Norway and NCL has much longer cruises which are difficult because of the amount of time away from both my regular job and my part-time WW gig.  This is a seven-day cruise which will give us a taste of Norway where we plan to return for a longer cruise, most likely after we retire.

Wanda and Michael mentioned an event called Dickens on the Strand which takes place in Galveston, TX in early December.  Of course, Wanda and I immediately thought, “let’s also book a cruise.”  Even though Michael and Kenyon think it is not necessary…we are booked on a Princess cruise!  This will be our first Princess cruise and we will visit the same ports of call as the Vlogger cruise.

Day 1     Galveston, TX
Day 2     At Sea
Day 3     At Sea
Day 4     Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico
Day 5     Roatan (Mahogany Bay), Honduras
Day 6     Belize City, Belize

Day 7     Cozumel, Mexico
Day 8     At Sea

Day 9     Galveston, TX

This time we plan to book excursions.  We also hope to port in Belize although it won’t be a private island on the NCL cruise.

Weekly WI: Two Weeks Of Results

Good Morning!   I have a few minutes before I head to the gym and wanted to pop in and say hello.  Oh my, it has been a minute!

I never chimed in to update after my weigh-in two weeks ago so now you have two weeks of weigh-in results!  After seeing the scale continue to climb, I had a huge drop two weeks ago.  My Tuesday weigh-in this week was up 0.4, which makes me super happy because that means the large drop in weight is officially gone!  Yeeeeehaaaw.

My focus the last two weeks have been on tracking, limiting alcohol, getting rid of sugar, and making sure I am am eating protein.  That is plan again this week with a few social situation thrown in on a couple days too.

Kenyon had to go to New Mexico last week to check in on his dad which meant I was home alone.  I instantly wanted to go out with friend, find reasons to drink, or perhaps even just engage in alcohol at home.  I really had to focus on NOT engaging in those behaviors that have not been supportive my WW program.  It was a struggle at times but leaning in on non-alcoholic beer has been helpful.

It was a busy week non-the less with two nights at the Nampa Lodge and a Boise Beer Buddies meet-up on Friday.  BBB turned 10 years old and Stacey C. collaborated with Mother Earth Brewing in Boise to put together a special anniversary American IPA.  It was delicious and always fun to spend time with Stacey and the other BBB members.

Afterwards, I met Phoenix and the other Stacey (it is hard having two friends with the same name) at Idawild Brewery, which announced they are closing their doors.  I heard another brewery is coming into their location so that is neat.

Other than that, life has been busy with Nampa Elks commitments, overtime at work, and regular work hours.  I have been mindful of my activity and making sure I am getting my movement in.  We finally have some beautiful weather which makes going for a walk so enjoyable.  I am headed to the gym today and then taking my Mom to afternoon tea for Mother’s Day.

Have a great day.

The Benefits Of Being Off Track

Gooooood Morning!  Happy Monday and Welcome May.

I can’t believe we are already in May.  You wouldn’t even know it from our wild weather.  I am ready for sunshine and warmer temps which are coming later this week.  I hope this time it will finally stick around for a while.

Life has been busy.  I was looking at my June calendar thinking about how busy June is going to be and now looking at my May calendar…boy is it busy too!   This year is just flying by.

I had a large and unexpected gain last week and let it tank my mental game.  I have been off-track all week.

One good thing about being horribly off track is eventually I hit my limit, and I can’t wait to start eating better and moving more.  I wish I was better at turning it around mid-week and sometimes I am.  Over the course of last week, it just got progressively worse and worse.

Despite the large gain, I ended the month of April with a loss.  That is a WIN in my book.

Looking back now, I really wish I had not made such a mess of the last week.  I am not feeling very confident getting on the scale Tuesday if I decide to.

So, what have I been up to?  Last week was packed with fun.  On Tuesday I attended the funeral of fallen officer from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Bolter.  Wednesday was the annual ILETS Conference at the Riverside Hotel.  Thursday was a Kate University introductory pickle ball class at The Flying Pickle, a new indoor pickle ball court.  We had a meet-and-greet with taco bar and then spent about an hour and a half playing pickle ball.  It was a great tutorial that was easy to learn and lots of fun to play.

I was in the Kentucky Derby spirit on Saturday at work.  Sadly, no party and no Mint Julep as I was on the clock.

I took Sunday off with a jam-packed day.  It started by watching my friend Jenny play flag football.  I can’t believe we have been friends for 20 years!  I wore my Cinco do Mayo hat that I got in Ensenada, Mexico.

My week of fun needs to come to an end.  I am eager to put better food into my body so I can start feeling better again.
