Girls Weekend Staycation (Thanks To COVID)

 Good Morning!

It has been a few days of little sleep turnaround.  I have things to do so I am up with the sunshine.  It is quite nice.  I’ve been staying up too late to watch the Outlander series on Netflix so that is why I’m also getting little sleep.

Our Girls Weekend Staycation started off yesterday with a hike up around Bogus Basin Ski Resort.

We picked the best time for driving up as that road is 15 miles of windy short curves along the hillside.  I didn’t expect people riding bikes up the roadway would be so hazardous as it is difficult to see around the corner.  The weather was beautiful and we had a slight breeze, which kept us cool.  Along the hike we saw many wildflowers growing including what I know as Indian Paint Brush.

I was having a conversation with Phoenix’s son Kaycen about the flower and Phoenix and Danielle reminded me that in these difficult times, it might not be appropriate to call them Indian Paint Brush.  We might just have to call them Paint Brush.  Doh!

At the base of the hill, we had lunch at O’Michaels Irish Pub & Grill.  My Ruben sandwich was delicious and their corned beef is amazing.  When I completed who I think was the owner, she said, “It better be or heads will roll in the kitchen.”   We also hit up Flying M coffee for an afternoon pick-me-up Americano and a cookie.

With a little bit of a rest at home, a much needed shower as it was dusty and dirty on the mountain, Kenyon and I met back up for a bite to eat and some beers with Phoenix at Jak*s Place in Nampa.

There was live music and plenty of beer on top.  Our Beer Buddies Card gets us 2 for 1 pints, which is a great deal.

August Apple Watch Activity Goal

My August Apple Watch Activity Challenge is a pretty easy one.

Thank goodness!

I have to complete 16 workouts of at least 15 minutes this month.  I am glad it wasn’t a major mileage challenge as I am not sure if I have it in me.  I do need to get back to a daily exercise routine and start working on some variety too.  The ability to log just 15 minutes and not have to be on a treadmill makes me really happy.

Since the wedding was on August 1st,  I started up the ‘ol activity tracker and logged 20 minutes of dancing.

Hey…when you have goals to meet, you get creative!

Weekly WI: Well Shoot

Well Shoot.

It turns out having an appetite again didn’t boat well for my weight loss.  Oh ONEderland…why do you have to keep kicking me out so quickly?  Waaaaahhhhh…

It really is my own fault.  Last week I gave in to the stress, tired, alcohol-induced cravings.  On Wednesday, we ordered pizza and breadsticks.  Cheesy bread is just sooooo good!  It really hit the spot.  Saturday after the wedding reception, I swung by McDonalds to get Kenyon some food and also ordered food for me.  Fixing something “healthy” at home did not sound appealing and I knew I should have gotten a chicken sandwich.  But, after four beers, a Big Mac, some fries, and half a Oreo snack size McFlurry was my indulgence of choice.

Sigh.

I knew it was going to come back to haunt me Tuesday on the scale.  I am really bummed and a bit mad at myself.

However, it has been pure hell for the last two weeks with major work stress.  I have been able to hold my own and not give into indulgences, plus, the head cold and loss of appetite helped a bit.  Once my cold was better, it was really hard not to go crazy, especially feed the stress I was feeling.  I really want this upswing to be temporary so I need to make sure that I stick to healthier eating this week.  I am working through Thursday and then have a Girls Weekend Stay-Cation where we will be staying in town doing some fun activities and checked out new restaurants and/or breweries.  I will have to make sure I enjoy it all in good moderation and portion control and also get in my activity.

I see the thyroid doctor mid-morning.  I am bummed I won’t officially be under 200 when I step on the scale, but I should definitely be down when it comes to the doctor’s scale.  I suppose that is one benefit to gaining 10 pounds last summer and not gaining it again this summer.
