Weekly WI: A Loss For The Month

This workday is moving along quickly.  It is kind of nice and yet I’m still only halfway through my work week.

After my decision to switch to MetPro, I am happy to report that I was down for the month of August.

It feels great to see a consistent downward trend again.  I am working hard to keep doing all the things and build that momentum.  I did, however, break up with my MetPro coach over a text message as I decided I was not going to continue with personalized coaching.  The free concierge service has been nice and I’m thankful to have learned quite a bit about macros during that time.  When I really think about it, I’ve lost 4.2 pounds for what would have been the cost of $500.  That comes to $119/pound, which I don’t even buy grapes when they are $5/pound.  So, MetPro coaching services are too high for my budget.

Here are my weekly results on MetPro.

The % is my adherence to my food plan, i.e. eating all my required macros.  Then next number is when I log the minutes for my workout.  Next is my daily weight.  Spoiler Alert: I still don’t love daily weighing.  Then you log when you eat extra sugar/carbs, extra macro foods, and if you had any alcohol.  Are you shocked I went alllll week which only one alcoholic beverage?  Me too.  That is one more reason to add to the list of why MetPro and I need a break.

I am committed to seeing it through until vacation…8 more work shift.

Two Weeks To Vaca

I’m on the countdown to vacation by the number of workdays left.

Y’all, my motivation has been low.  I am ready for a break!  Sadly, there are many more shifts to go but we will just tackle them one day at a time.

We completed our online check-in, have our boarding passes and luggage tags printed, the hotel arrangements, airlines, and public transit are all in place.  I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that we don’t have a repeat of British Airways canceling our international flights like last year.  I don’t know if I’ll be able to relax until we have checked in for our flights and boarded the plane!  But, with a couple weeks to go, time will tell.

I’m still plugging along with MetPro, although I’ve decided not to pay the $500 per month coaching fee at the end of my trail period.  I have a phone meeting with my coach set for Tuesday after my WW Workshop and have been checking in via text message.  It is nice having somebody helping on the back end, but it also makes me feel afraid to eat.  She isn’t the one making me feel guilty but when somebody is watching, you feel you need to be perfect.  There is no such thing as perfection, just consistency.  I’ll pop in this week with more after my Weekly Weigh-In.

I know I’ve been absent a lot lately.  I need to get ahead of blogging content so I can somewhat keep up when life feels busy.

Weekly WI: Still Plugging Along - MetPro Update

My Weekly Weigh-In was a very small loss, -0.2 pounds.  After several weeks of hanging out in the 210s, I am happy to have downward movement, even in small increments.  We also returned from a weekend trip to Jackpot, NV and I attended a family picnic with my fellow Elks members.  So, it was a busy weekend of excess food consumption.

I had a check-in with my MetPro coach who helped talk me through some of the tracking and meal prep struggles.  I had another check-in yesterday where we and had a good discussion about alcohol and how it impacts weight loss.  We also decided to try my first “cut.”

To rev the metabolism, you cut the meal carbs at lunch and dinner for 72 hours.  Then, when you add them back in, it stimulates the metabolism.  It may take a couple tries to find the right “cut” but it is all part of the MetPro plan.

I sometimes struggle with getting my meal carbs in, so the adjustment has been fine so far.  I am also choosing to not drink alcohol this weekend to give my metabolism the helping hand it needs!  I have social plans next week so it will make it that much more enjoyable to wait.

I also am working on shaking up my meal ideas this week, so I don’t continue to feel bored or restricted, and get in some activity.  I took a long walk on Thursday and really pushed my pace.  It feels good to see the calorie burn afterwards.

I’m ready to finish this week strong…than have a beer!

Weekly WI: Scale Movement

Hello and Happy Thursday!

I had my first full week on the MetPro program and was happy to see some scale movement.  They recommend daily weighing which is taking some getting used to.

I’ve also decided to not track on the WW app right now, just MetPro.  However, after a phone meeting with a MetPro Coach, I feel a little better navigating the week ahead.  But first, a quick out of town trip for a few days to see a Fleetwood Mac tribute group.

I will be participating in a one-month free trail of MetPro’s coaching service and after an adjustment to my daily macros, I think this will line up better with my WW plan moving forward as that is one of my goals.  Prior to today, my day was split into three meals and one snack and my daily macros looked like this.

Now, I am split into three meals and two snacks and I think that will be easier to navigate.  It is a change to some of the meals I’ve been planning this last couple of week so it will take a little time to get acquainted with the new macros.  So far, my first “meal” of the day, which was really built as a snack to be on the go while I got my blood drawn for my thyroid visit later this month, ended up blowing my macros out of the water.  More on the learning front indeed.

And, we are headed out of town which always shifts things!  I want to enjoy my time away with Kenyon and my parents but also stay mindful.  I won’t be tracking MetPro and I’ll be consuming a large amount alcohol!  But, come Sunday, back to MetPro.  I’m waiting to hear from Coach Crystal and spend the next month working towards some goal progress.

With that, I better get my activity complete and lunch in my belly!

Have a great day.

It's Time For Something To Change

Hello August.

I’ve done a lot of reflecting on my Weekly WI and thought I’d sit down and write some of it down.  I actually had days off last week…shocker…which also gave me time to re-focus.

On Monday, I signed up for MetPro, a fitness and coaching program offered through my work.  I remember when they rolled it out several months ago but decided to see what it was all about.  I really need one small thing to connect to that will help me re-focus.  I used this trick in 2016 when I was finally ready to tackle an 80 pound gain and signed up with a personal trainer.  I thought about seeing if there was a trainer at the YMCA.  I know if I can connect to just one small thing in my weight health journey, the rest will follow.  Instead, I singed up for MetPro.  It has been A LOT the last few days but I am starting to perhaps find my grove…perhaps!

Let me rewind.  My weigh-in on Tuesday was rough.  While I was up a small amount from last week, this is five weeks in the 210s.  I jumped up 5 pounds in about six week and it has just stuck on there.

What I can’t ignore anymore is my weight trend since joining WW as a Coach in 2014.  I amp 18 pounds… 18 pounds!!!  Not all of that has been a rapid decline which makes it easier to pretend it isn’t happening.  When I saw 212 on the WW scale (their scale weights slightly higher than my home scale and I have had some food/drink along with wearing clothes when I weigh in).  It is time to open my eyes and time to make changes.  This is where I’m hoping MetPro might be able to help me shake things up and somehow I can marry the two together in the future.  That is yet to be determined.

MetPro is a macro-based program so it has thrown my normal way off eating for a loop.  While frustrating at times, it has given me new insight into how I set up my meals and changed up what I’ve been eating.  Obviously, it has been a positive change because I am eating more whole foods and have ramped up my daily protein and fat intake.  That is the difficult part…the extra fats!  I am eating foods that I don’t normally eat but some that I’ve missed.  This is the part where I’m hoping I can live in a world with the WW flexibility as MetPro is too restrictive for me, but also be mindful of how certain food affects my body.  I’ll report in more after I’ve had more time.  I am only three days in as I only had my consultation yesterday via Zoom.  But, I’m working at it!

Life Lately

Here is a little bit of life lately…

Our group cruise with the Cruise Monkey’s is getting closer.

I had my gal make me a new water bottle and she also make the Cruise Monkey’s a luggage tag.  The back has the QR code for quick reference to their travel page.  I loved how they turned out and can’t wait to give them to Luke and Gavin.  I’ve been drinking water out of my mug to ramp up the excitement.

It was after the cruising industry started back up following Covid that I found this other world of cruise and travel vloggers.  It is enjoyable to experience travel adventures from all those content creators.

I hosted an engagement party for Phoenix and Stacey.  Stacey proposed while they were on a family vacation over 4th of July weekend.  I am so excited for them and want them to have the most support possible for whenever they decide to walk down the isle.

I ordered catering from Café Rio and some specialty cake pops with diamond rings from Poppin Cake Pops.  Phoenix chose the Biscoff cookie flavor and they were delicious.

I made homemade pizza with my sourdough.  I swear the pizza just gets better and better each time.  I need to put this on the menu again soon.

I’ll leave you with this!
