Let's Make A Deal

Being a WW member means you learn several tips and tricks to help you navigate along your journey.  I have become a master at many.

One of those things is “Let’s Make A Deal.”

Let’s face it.  You can’t have it all.  Okay, well you CAN have it all but since I try to balance out my week I also try to pay attention to how and when I consume higher PPV foods and/or treats.  A few weeks ago since I really wanted to eat out, I made a deal that if I ate at home then I could have frozen yogurt out.

A similar deal was made late Thursday evening.

I went to a 10 pm movie to kill some time and break up my evening being awake all night at home.  Movies are much more enjoyable with movie popcorn.  I wasn’t sure though that I really needed to/wanted to spend more PPVs on popcorn when I had just enjoyed wine, rolls, and dessert earlier in the day at Thanksgiving dinner.

I made a deal with myself that if I skipped the movie popcorn then after the movie I could get my new favorite Dutch Bros coffee, Americano with eggnog.  The Dutch Bros in the area of town I was in is open 24 hours (sadly, not the one right by work).

I enjoyed my coffee while I did some late night/early morning Black Friday shopping.  I had not quite planned well though and I was starting to get hungry.  I found several of the McDonald’s were also open so I grabbed some oatmeal.  I also snacked on some Somersault crackers.  Man they are good!

As with any good weight loss or maintenance plan, you HAVE to do what works for you.  Making a deal with me will often work.  I still throw caution to the wind more time than necessary and smelling the movie popcorn made it tough to resist.

I am glad I had an equally delicious treat to look forward to as I walked right on by the snack booth!

My Latest Obsession

My love for Dutch Bros has increased by leaps and bounds.

For those of you on my Facebook page, you already know about my new obsession.

For those that don’t, let me bring you up to speed.

I love Dutch Bros.

I go to Dutch Bros for coffee waaaaaaay more times the necessary in a week.

I have a slight spending problem and paying $2 for coffee doesn’t help that problem.

Okay.  Now you are up to speed.

So, why am I blogging about this obsession that most people already know about?

EGGNOG!!!!!

Dutch Bros has a new drink out for the season called Caramel Nog.  It is eggnog, caramel sauce, and espresso.  Sounds odd eh?  Well, unfortunately, it was actually quite yummy when my coworker ordered one just so I could try a sip!

Like any good WW member, I have been thinking of that Caramel Nog but know in all reality if I was to get one there is no way I would order it as is.  After all, I am the queen of special orders and that includes ordering my coffee with a special order too.  I told the gal at the window the Caramel Nog is yummy but if I was or order it I would need half eggnog, half skim milk, and sugar free caramel.  She asked if I have tried eggnog in place of creamer in my Americano.  What?

As it turns out eggnog for creamer is quite tasty in espresso.  I am counting my coffee as 2 PPVs instead of just the 1 PPV for cream.  I looked up the PPV for eggnog.  One cup is 11 PPVs and ¼ cup is 2 PPVs.  I hope when I tell the person at the window “just a little eggnog” I am not getting a huge amount but you never really know.  So for right now I’ll count it as 2 PPVs.  *edited to add: I have now looked up the PPVs from the NI info and it is actually 3 PPVs*
I am also going to try  and not go everyday  like I want to.  I do know that making my own coffee at home and adding some eggnog isn’t the same.  So for now I’ll just enjoy it while I can during the remainder of the holiday season

10 Week Fitness Challenge Complete!!!

100% of my goal to walk 120 miles is complete!!!

  Current Goal % Goal Completed

Total Miles 120 miles 120 miles 100%

Ten weeks ago we started a fitness challenge that our director encouraged everybody to participate in.  Week ten is now complete and I have walked 120 miles.  Yahhhhoooo!

When I started this fitness challenge so many weeks ago, I had recently been dealing with my back issues and the news that the issue is permanent.  I had already started walking as a form of activity so I figured setting a goal to walk 120 miles in 10 weeks would be a good starting place.  Little did I know that 12 miles a week would soon feel a lot harder than it seemed!

Mostly it was just time.  You really have to commit to setting aside the time to exercise.  Sure, I can walk pretty fast so an outside four mile walk would take me about an hour.  However, I was also going to the Y some days to walk the track and do my PT moves on the exercise ball.  That takes extra time when you factor in driving to/from the YMCA.

I was ahead of my weekly mileage goals since I counted the distance Danielle and I walked in Vegas that her FitBit logged.  It wasn’t until these last few weeks that I lost my motivation to get out for a walk.  I was starting to feel bored.  I also found my last few weeks of days off were quite busy.

Regardless, I powered through and completed my 120th mile on Friday to finish the challenge strong.

Sunday: No activity
I was feeling lazy on Sunday so I didn’t exercise.

Monday: 2.5 miles
I went to the Y and completed 2.5 miles on the track before doing some PT moves.  It was REALLY busy at the Y so I actually just did my laps all at the same time.  I was able to keep my heart rate up for a longer amount of time too.  3 APs earned.

Tuesday: No Activity
I never got a workout in today.  I was at Edmark with my car for repairs before going to my WW meeting.  Later that evening I decided to drag out our tree and Christmas decorations so we could get some photos for our Christmas Card.  I never made time to actually exercise.

Wednesday: 3 miles
I decided to shake things up and do Walk Away The Pounds (WATP) DVD at home.  I did a 3 mile walk and then lifted some weights.  4 APs earned.

Thursday: No Activity
With Thanksgiving, a nap, a movie, and some Black Friday late night/early morning shopping, I never did any formal exercise today.

Friday: 2.5 miles
I knew I needed to finish up this challenge and I really didn’t want to let myself down.  I jumped on the treadmill for an incline workout to finish up my 120 mile goal.  4 APs earned.

Saturday: No Activity
I decided on extra sleep/snuggle time with Kenyon today.

Total for week ten: 8 miles

Total for challenge: 120 miles of 120 miles walked!!!

According to the Excel sheet we are to log our info to, I completed 100% of my commitment.

I exercised 1891 minutes, which is equivalent to 31.52 hours walked.

I have been asked what my next goal is.  I am not really sure.  I need to keep up with the PT moves so walking the track is still a realistic option.  I would also like to ramp up the intensity of my workouts and maybe get back into some classes at the Y.
