A COVID Wedding

My cousin Madeleine was married yesterday.

I am so glad I was able to be there for her special day.

Madeleine is a younger cousin who I have known since she was born.  We used to babysit her older brothers and I still tell the story about how they didn’t want a little sister.  They said they would cut off her Barbie doll heads and flush them down the toilet!  Well, being the “baby” of the family and a very precious little girl, you know she had all of them wrapped around her finger.  The toast her brothers gave at the reception had us all in tears.  It was heartwarming.

The wedding was held at 1pm at the Catholic Church.  The bride looked stunning in a very simple white gown.

There was a large bridal party with seven attendants on each side.  The flower girl and ring bears were absolutely adorable and are the children of my other cousins.

The priest was quadruple booked so there was a break between the wedding and the reception.  I went to my parents’ house for a bite to eat and more visiting.  The reception was at 6pm at an outdoor event venue in the Sand Hollow area.  It was HOT for this August summer evening.

I was able to get a photo with the Bride, who had changed into a dress that she made from her mother’s wedding dress and an old prom dress.

Also with my cousin Julie.  https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1EuxjD1Wzpwb_sTbJHhPZ6v02IczwHzaf
I have some very beautiful cousins.

Julie insisted I get a photo with my Momma, which I wouldn’t say no.

We feasted on delicious tri-tip, scalloped potatoes, baked beans, salad, and a roll.  The catering was excellent.  There was an open bar with beer, spiked seltzer, and water.

We danced well into the evening and were thankful when the temps cooled down.  I left just before 11pm.  The bride’s gift to her groom was a specially made cornhole game.

I saw this on her Instagram a few weeks ago so my gift to them was Mr. & Mrs. cornhole bean bags.  I can’t wait until they open their gifts.

Congrats to the Bride & Groom.
