So Much Fun!!!

I started my birthday off with an apple pancake and a 4.5 mile walk to the store to get party supplies.

When I went to put on my Polar heart rate monitor watch it showed me a birthday cake on the display. That totally made my day!

Kenyon arrived home from work with flowers. I have trained him well!

I had so much fun celebating my birthday with my girlfriends downtown. I don't regret my decision to not have my usual roller skating party. It was a blast!

I had planned to meet my friends for happy hour downtown at Mai Thai. Phoenix couldn't make it though so we met earlier for lunch at SouperSalad. Thanks for lunch Phe. You know I love me some clam chowder!!!

We met downtown at 5pm for 2 for 1 drinks. Mai Thai has a fun menu with lots of interesting drinks (and mostly the interesting part is in the drink names!) During happy hour you are able to have two different drinks so that made the choice that much more fun. Thanks to peer pressure I had FOUR drinks! Don't worry though, there was a little food consumed and a crap-ton of water too!

The drinks I picked were:

Permanganate Martini – citrus vodka, triple sec, pomegranate juice, and fresh-squeezed lime juice served up with a wedge of lime.

Grapefruit Gimlet – Finlandia grapefruit-flavored vodka, agave nectar, and fresh-squeezed lime juice served with a grapefruit wheel.

Ginger (which they also have The Mary Ann) – Domain de Canton ginger liqueur, Cointreau, and fresh-squeezed lemon juice served with a sugared rim and flamed orange.

Siam Sunray – Vodka, coconut cream, fresh-squeezed lime juice, Kaffir lime leaf, lemongrass, ginger, and Thai chili served in a Collin's glass with a lime wedge and lemongrass stalk

By the time I got to the last drink I was sort of “sweeted” out. They were all delicious though.

For my appetizers I had the chicken lettuce wraps and some chicken pot stickers with plum sauce on the side (I forgot to snap a photo).

Here were some of the other drinks ordered that night.

Rebecca ordered The Mary Ann – 44 North Huckleberry vodka (which is an Idaho company), simple syrup, and fresh-squeezed lemon juice served in an Old-Fashioned glass with a Pellegrino Limonata float, lemon twist, and cherry.  She then had Ginger to round out her Gilligan's Island Adventure.

Stephanie also ordered The Mary Ann in addition to Chucumber – Shochu, Licor 43, fresh-squeezed lime juice, sugar, and Japanese cucumber served up with a cucumber ribbon. I forgot to get a photo of that one but I did try it. Not super sweet so I wasn't a fan. I didn't really care for The Mary Ann either.

Kate ordered saki. I have never had it before so she let me taste it. Also not a fan!

Danielle ordered Siam Sunray, and recommended that for my forth drink (oh man....four drinks!). She also had some sort of whiskey drink that I forgot to take a photo of and I don't know which one it was, but she liked it.

Jamie ordered the drinks in the fun Tiki glasses! She started with Ginger and then I think she had Hawaiian Mai Thai – Appleton 12 Jamaican rum, Cruzan aged rum, Cointreau, John D. Taylor's Velvet Falerum, Pernod, fresh-squeezed orange and lime juices, rock candy syrup and Angostura bitters served in a Tiki mug with a lime shell, pineapple spear, and sprig of mint.

Missionary's Downfall - St. James Martinique rhum agricole, Cruzan aged rum, Cruzan 151 rum, peach schnapps, fresh mint, honey, pineapple juice, and fresh-squeezed lime juice served in a Tiki mug with a pineapple spear and sprig of mint.

She had a fourth drink (my partner in crime) but I am not sure what it was and I didn't get a photo.

Man...can you see why we had so much fun now?

We also had a great time visiting with two other people in the bar that were having a birthday as well. The older gentleman next to me was a good sport and put on a tiny tiara and some beads!

Towards the end of our evening the server brought out some coconut ice cream with a sparkler in it!

All my friends sang Happy Birthday and cheered. Then they brought out ice cream for the guy next to us so we erupted in song. Don't forget, there was one other birthday though! We sang for her too. Everybody in the bar was laughing!

We had so much fun!!!!

It was about 9:30 pm or so when our group dwindled to four. Jamie, Danielle, and I headed to Flying M for some coffee. At 11 pm we closed them down and headed to our cars. After we walked Danielle to her car Jamie and I stopped into Pie Hole so I could use the bathroom. One sniff of pizza and we decided a slice was needed. (I can get pretty careless with my calories when I drink.)  Plus it had been several hours since I had any actual food so that could have been the driving force as well! As usual I forgot to snap a photo.

I got home and rounded up for bed at 12:30 am. I already cannot wait until next year!  Thanks to all my friends who joined me and agreed to have their silly photos on the blog! You really are a true friend.

I was able to celebrate with some of my family on Saturday at Murphy. Mom brought me a cake so I could I blow out my candles and make a wish.
