I love Heather from Half Size Me. She has so much great insight on weight loss,
maintenance, exercise, weight lifting, and overall health. She recently separated out her “Heather Weigh’s
In” portion of her weekly podcast into a Thursday podcast This is free but you have to sign up and you receive
them via email.
I was a few weeks behind but finally got caught up. I really enjoy the information Heather
shared in her “Heather Weigh’s In" Episode.
Heather was responding to a listener asking about how to
stay motivated. This listener said once
she loses some weight she starts to sabotage herself and struggles with keeping
the weight off. As usual, Heather has
wise words for her listener.
“At the end of the day whether or not you achieve more
muscle mass or less muscle mass, are skinny fat, or not, at the end of the day it is
about feeling good in your own skin. The
person who wins this is the person who feels really good in their own
skin. They are comfortable in who they
are.”
I was at a new-to-me WW meeting several years ago and I
noticed a woman crying for most of the meeting.
She finally spoke up saying she wished she could have seen herself
differently when she lost the weight.
She had lost 50 pounds and couldn’t get her mind to catch up. She eventually ended up gaining the weight back.
My heart broke for her.
I could only tell her that it takes time for the mental aspect to catch
up to weight loss but working towards acceptance in your new body and who you
are is really important.
Ditch your old baggy clothes! When you go shopping tell the sales clerk you
lost some weight and need help with what looks good and/or what might be
outside of your comfort zone. BELIEVE
your friends when they give you comments.
You really DO look good!
“The
person who wins is the person who feels really good in their own skin.”
